ABOUT OUR TEAM - AMY PRUMO & THOMAS CARDEN

Amy is a Florida Keys Elite Agent & Diamond Award Winner.  She has been selling real estate for over 10 years in the keys.  Her main goal is to educate buyers and sellers thoroughly on the real estate process, while navigating every aspect of the transaction to a seamless, successful completion.  She hold a Master degree and Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Management.

 


Tom’s experience is in the Building, Planning, Zoning and Development field.  He worked in the Civil Engineering Department for the USAF.   He was the Building Official/Director of Building Planning and Zoning for a municipality for over ten years; and is the owner of Alliance Custom Builders. He also holds twenty licenses through the International Code counsel, including Commercial & Residential Plan Reviewer and Certified Building Official.  He has built homes in both Marathon and Key Colony Beach.

I had been receiving email updates on available properties for about a year or more when after Hurricane Irma I got a text from Amy that basically said "hey are you still interested in property in Fl after the hurricane". Ironically, I had already booked a vacation eight months earlier at Tranquillity Bay. The resort assured me they would be open, so I told Amy yes and I'll be down in 10 days, I'll see you then.
Amy showed me property from the seven-mile bridge to the top of lslamorada! At the time I had no idea how far that was! She had identified other condo's she thought I would like based on what I had already asked to see. I bought one of her suggestions.
In March of 2020 I began looking for a single-family home. We closed in January 2021. Amy and Tom were amazing. They showed me numerous homes virtually and never made me feel like I was bothering them. They learned my style and must haves very quickly. I was very impressed with Amy's honesty. While she was showing me all the reasons to buy the house, she would also point out things that she knew would be an issue when I did finally come down to see it; the carpet needs to be replaced, all the walls need painting, the corners of the walls are chipped, the floorboards are broken, there is no room between the bed and the closet to walk, there are water stains on the ceiling. you can't open the refrigerator and the oven at the same time, the house has a smell, you can't really swim in this water, yes, there will be stinky grass here, the neighbour has a dog that has not stopped barking since we got here, this house is next to a hotel with an outdoor tiki bar, things that most realtors would fail to mention because they were hoping you would miss it in your excitement when you finally got to see the house. And I was very impressed with Tom's knowledge of construction and building codes. At one point we were thinking of building and he was a huge help. I began to trust and rely on his knowledge as I would a friend or a brother who I had taken with me to view the house. At one house we looked at Tom pointed out that the deck was falling off and that the joists had been improperly cut. I was so thankful that he knew what he was looking at and was able to warn us ahead of time. We did put an offer in on that house but I felt so much better knowing that there was a big repair needed before we made the offer. We eventually purchased a different home.
The perfect home! We had looked for 10 months. When this one hit the market Amy immediately sent it to me on a Sat afternoon. That evening we told her we liked it and she was at the house at 9:30 the next day, on a Sunday, for a facetime viewing. We made an offer that day.
The excellent service did not stop there. We now had to sell our condo immediately as a condition of the mortgage. Not wanting to lose the house, I did not make that a condition of my offer to buy the new house. I had a backup plan but as it turned out I did not need it. Amy and Tom sold my condo, for only $5,000 under asking, in 13 days, with less than a 30-day settlement.
And still the excellent service did not stop there. Amy and Tom even did a final walk through by Facetime which made me feel so much better because the seller had to remove all his furnishings. We purchased it unfurnished and I was worried how the seller would leave the condition of the home. I currently live in NJ and besides Covid 19 being an issue for traveling, my office prepares tax returns, we were gearing up for tax season and I just could not get down to FL to handle my personal items before the closing dates. Amy and Tom moved my personal items from my condo storage unit in Marathon to my new house in Summerland Key and returned my router and remotes and cable boxes back to Comcast!
I simply cannot tell you how impressed and blessed we are to have such amazing Realtors (and I hope friends). Joe and I have purchased over 16 homes between us in the past 35 years, we know outstanding service and amazing people when we meet them.
We have finally found the perfect place to retire. Thank you and Amy and Tom, so much for being part of a 35 year story to find that perfect forever home.
